Last week i had attended southasian bands festival which is an annual three day long festival that occurs on the nov-dec of every year at purana quilla which is in new delhi.Different artists from saarc countries like Bhutan,Maldives,Pakistan,Bangladesh,Nepal,Myanmar,Afghanistan and of course from India assemble here for a great evening who relishes especially the youths of delhi through their rock music and of course spread the message of friendship, brotherhood and peace. This year several bands like strings from pakistan, james and group called nagarbaul(life in a metro fame"Alvidaa" and "Bheegi bheegi"in gangster) from bangladesh,Fath'u and early birds from maldives, pentagram from mumbai,Kabul dreams from afghanistan, raghu dixit project from bangalore and several more artists like shankar ehsaan loy, faridkot, half step down, paranoid earthling from srilanka, whos ur daddy from bhutan, afflatus from shillong, emperor from myanmar, avial from trivandrum(india)and 1974 ad (nepal) joined here.
It was a pleasure to watch them live .I was completely imbibed in their music.I was feeling like i'm still in my teens.People from all walks of life came here for a glimpse of their icons.People especially youths just drooled over the steps and swung trought out the show.they never seems tired. As a non smoker i was just roaming here and there for a place out of smoke troughout the show. All the places are full of smoke from cigar and dusts by the dance monger youths. Some enjoyed by sitting while some cozied by their lovers and friends while some some enjoyed watching in the big screens. For three days delhhites get a good hangout point to cheer and relax in the weekend..
It is a great place for a music concert that reminisces the old heritage of indian culture. But the archaelogists who are shouting about conserving te precious monuments have no grievances about this show though it caused heavy and loud noise that may harm these historic monuments.
And finally thanks to seher and iccr who organised theis event to promote peace and brotherhood through cultural activities like music.
